Relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest held Chelsea to a difficult 2-2 draw on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.

Taiwo Awonyi took advantage of Edouard Mendy’s catastrophic error to give Forest an early lead in the first half, to the shock of Chelsea faithfuls who thought the team was back on track. Chelsea produced little in the first half, which also saw Mateo Kovacic take off due to injury.

In the second half, Raheem Sterling’s two-goal barrage turned the game around after the break. The first one took a slight deflection on its way in as the Englishman leveled for the Lampard side. He then cut inside and curled a beautiful finish for the second shot to cap off a quick counterattack.

However, the Blues were unable to hold out for a second straight victory as Awonyi scored his second just seconds after Chelsea took the lead while unmarked.

Keylor Navas made brilliant saves as Forest went on to hold on to a vital point in the relegation battle.
