Manchester United defeated Wolves 2-0 at Old Trafford and increased their hopes of Champions League qualification.

Antony Martial’s close-range goal in the first half finished off a swift United counter after the Frenchman was brought into the lineup after Marcus Rashford missed the game due to injury.

In the second half, the Wolves had many chances to score, but they could not manage to do so. Alejandro Garnacho’s rapid finish off the post in stoppage time, on his comeback from an ankle ligament injury, sealed the victory.

Speaking after the game, United manager Erik Ten Hag insisted they needed to continue winning games. “We have to match the highest standards—winning games. But I heard United doesn’t do it the easy way; that is in the DNA.” He said

Manchester United are level with Newcastle United with 66 points after 36 games played.
