Ivory Coast defeated Nigeria 2-1 to win the AFCON finals at home.

Nigeria got the early lead through captain Troost Ekong in the first half after a defensive mixup from a swinging corner kick by Lookman. Ivory Coast seemed to be struggling against a strong Nigerian side who have been at their best since the start of the tournament, with Frank Kessie seemingly escaping a red card.

In the second half, Frank Kessie levelled the scores for Ivory Coast from a corner kick, which sparked wild celebrations from the crowd. In the final 15 minutes of the game, Sebastien Haller scored the winning goal after a wonderful cross by Andigra. Ivory Coast managed to hold on to the win and ensure the AFCON remained home.

Ivory Coast won the tournament even after firing their head coach and qualifying for the knockout stage as one of the best losers.
