Kenya once again reaffirmed its dominance in the men’s 3,000 metres steeplechase by completing a historic podium sweep at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Edmund Serem led the Kenyan charge to claim the gold medal after crossing the finish line in 8:18.23. Fellow Kenyan Simon Kiprop Koech secured the silver medal just fractions of a second later in 8:18.59, while Leonard Kipkemoi Bett completed the clean sweep by taking bronze in 8:21.63.
The trio proved too strong for the rest of the field, extending Kenya’s rich legacy in the steeplechase, an event the country has dominated on the international stage for decades.

England’s Kristian Imroth finished seventh in 8:38.12, while fellow Englishman Mark Pearce rounded off the top eight in 8:42.39.
