The fifth edition of Absa Kipkeino Classic will be free of charge for the fans, says the meet’s director Barnaba Korir.

The Continental Tour Gold event will be held on Saturday- this weekend, which serves as a free opportunity for Kenyans to watch elite athletes from all walks wife life.

According to Barnaba Korir, they hope for the fans to turn out in large numbers which will go a long way in persuading the World Athletics to register the event to the Diamond League level.

“For sure there will be no entry fee for the fans… we would like to urge all the sports lovers especially those living in Nairobi to turn up in large numbers this Saturday so that we can fill the stadium to the brim,”

“If we fill the venue it will help us in the future because we want this Kipkeino Classic to be promoted to the rank of Diamond League. Currently, we are at the level of Continental Tour Gold, and the next step is the Diamond League. After that, we will be able to get the World Championships here in Nairobi.” Korir told People Sport.

The bee-hive day will kick off with field events at 10 AM, culminating in an exhilarating race featuring Omanyala at 05:54 PM.
