Lionel Messi announced that he would be joining Inter Miami next season.
This came as a surprise to many after it was widely reported that he would either join Barcelona or move to Saudi Arabia, where he was offered a lucrative deal. His father and agent, Jorge Messi, were even pictured having a meeting with Barcelona President Laporta. It was later reported that the deal was difficult to go through as Barcelona still needed to sell more players to facilitate the move.
Speaking after his move,Messi also spoke about his failed return to Barcelona. “I’m not sure if Barça did everything possible to make it happen, honestly; I just know what Xavi told me…”.”I’m sure that there are people in the club that do not want me to return to Barça, considering that’s negative for the club”. He said.”Mosaid. never been an issue with me. We did has’t even discuss the contract with Barcelona! They sent me a proposal, but it was never an official, written, and signed proposal,” he continued.
Messi also said he wished he had a farewell, just like Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.
