Argentina star Lionel Messi has opened up about his plans ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
After captaining Argentina to the 2022 World Cup win, Lionel Messi admitted that he would make a late decision on whether he would join the next World Cup. Since then he has been playing for Inter Miami and has insisted he would consider all factors before making the decision.At almost 37 years of age and having won every trophy available, Messi has insisted he does not feel the pressure to perform again.
Messi spoke during his surprise return to Barcelona about his plans for the World Cup. “I’m excited for the World Cup. But I don’t want to be a burden; I want to feel good physically and be sure that I can help and contribute things to the group. I will see day to day if I really feel good physically to be like I would like to be able to participate.” He said.
He went on to add that he wants to go back to Barcelona once the stadium is finished. “I really want to go back to Barça stadium when it’s finished because since I left for Paris, I didn’t go back to Camp Nou either, and then they went to Montjuïc. It’s going to be special, I’m sure.” He said.
