Liverpool ended their losing streak after a 5-1 win over Frankfurt in the Champions League.
Arne Slot’s side had not been at their best, having lost four games in a row. The English side started slowly and found themselves 1-0 down through Kristensen, who drove a low powerful shot. Hugo Etikite levelled the scores against his former club after being released by Andy Robertson. Virgil Van Djik then added the second goal for the slot side through a corner kick by Gakpo. Minutes later, Ibrahim Konate added the third goal for Liverpool from a similar corner kick.
In the second half, Frankfurt piled on pressure, but Bradley’s last-minute interception prevented them from adding to their tally. Cody Gakpo then added the fourth goal after being set up by Florian Wirtz. Dominic Szoboszlai then added the fifth goal to finish off a comfortable evening for the Reds.
Speaking after the win, Florian Wirtz was happy with his first goal involvement. “I know that I can do much, much more. I think the second half was really good. I’m satisfied that we’ve won; we did a great second half all together, and I finally have a goal involvement.” He said.
