Manchester City defeated Bournemouth 3-1 at the Etihad to close the gap towards leaders Arsenal.

Erling Haaland continued his impressive performance and once again opened the scoring for the home side early on. Jeremy Doku saw his effort saved by Dejan Petrovic. The away side levelled the scoring through Tyler Adams, who shot a loose ball to level the scoring. Donnarumma was furious as he appealed for a foul, but VAR allowed the goal to stand. Erling Haaland then scored his second goal after being set up by Ryan Cherki to give them a halftime lead.

In the second half, the away side continued their persistent effort towards Donnarumma’s goal, but there was no breakthrough. City got the third goal through Nico O’Reilly after a pass by Phil Foden to score the third goal. Omar Marmoush saw his effort late on just hit the side net.

Speaking after the victory, Guardiola was happy with his side. “Hopefully Arsenal will concede a goal one day. The energy we didn’t have, we have. I had the feeling since the Club World Cup that we were in the moment.” It’s just 10 games; there are still 28 to play. Many things are going to happen. It’s important to be close and feel that the team is better and better.” He said.
