Manchester United have reached a decision to let go of 21-year old forward Mason Greenwood.

In an announcement that was issued by the club today, Greenwood is no longer a United player and is set to leave the club immediately after the conclusion of internal investigations concerning the rape allegations against him and his girlfriend.

“All those involved, including Mason, recognize the difficulties with him recommencing his career at Manchester United. It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.” said part of United statement

In the past few weeks, there were reports that the 21 year-old could return to the starting line-up, but the decision has now been abandoned after the club feared backlash from inside staff and outside fans about bringing the player back to Old Trafford.

It’s not clear where the player is headed, but initially there were clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia that showed interest in the player.
