Manchester United were beaten 1-0 by Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.

United’s season is now over, and they have endured the worst campaign for a big club in ages. In the Premier League they are currently in 16th place with just 39 points and are just one point above Spurs in the relegation zone. They have now officially gone trophyless, and both the manager and the players are far from happy.

Head coach Rúben Amorim said he will not quit his role. “I will not quit. I am confident in my job, and I will not change anything.” If the board or fans feel that I’m not the right guy, I will go the next day without any conversation about compensation… but I will NOT quit.” He said.

Diogo Dalot: “This club must not die and will never die. Being in pain is positive; it’s the first step towards change. There are a lot of things we need to change, whether it’s behaviours every day.” He said.

Bruno Fernandes backed Amorim to do well. “I do think Rúben Amorim is the right man for us.” I don’t think what happened this season shows exactly what he is as a manager. I do think he’s the right manager for the future of this club.” He said.

Garnacho was not happy after starting the final on the bench: “Until the final, I played every round helping the team… then the final arrives, and I play 20 minutes?! I don’t know.” The final, the season, the whole situation of the club… I will try to enjoy the summer, and then we will see what happens.” He said.
