Vihiga Queens Captain, Marceline Wayodi, has revealed their secret weapon that catalyzed their success in defending their FKF-WPL title against their rivals Gaspo Women.
The Queens had to weather the fierce storm that was blown their way by Gaspo Women. Gaspo Women took the fight down the wire and a slip up from the penultimate day from Gaspo granted Vihiga Queens the trophy.
“We have been playing like a family and anytime we won, drew, or lost, we did so as a team. What really pushed us also are the senior players and the teamwork that was there whenever we lost helped us to be there for each other.
We also maintained to focus just on ourselves, we never panicked and never looked at the others,” she said.
Vihiga Queens will now take part in the 2023 CECAFA Zone CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers will be held in Uganda from 12-26 August. This will be the ticket to taking part in the CAF Women’s Champions League.
