Nairobi City Stars midfielder Anthony Kimani
has officially retired after 17 years in the league.

Before the final 2022–2023 Football Kenya Federation Premier League last match of the season between Nairobi City Stars and Gor Mahia at Moi Stadium, Kasarani, Kimani announced his retirement on Sunday after a 17-year career in Kenyan football.

In the season finale on Sunday against league winners Gor Mahia, Kimani played in his 19th game, 109th game overall in the colors of Nairobi City Stars over four and a half seasons, and 284th game in the Kenyan Premier League. Kimani scored 38 goals during those contests.

Nairobi City Stars CEO Patrick Korir thanked Kimani for his services. “We thank Kimani for bringing maturity and adding his vast experience to the City Stars setup since 2019 and for guiding the team back to the KPL after five seasons in the cold. He was a dedicated servant, and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors,” said Korir.
