Cody Gakpo among those sent home

A virus infected the camp on Thursday, sending five members of the Dutch national team home from their international assignment.

According to reports, the squad is said to have consumed a chicken curry together, which some believe may have been the reason for the outbreak.

Van Dijk quickly shot down the hypothesis, calling the meal “delicious” and insisting that he was not hurt by it. “I don’t know where that story comes from. “I also had chicken curry, which was delicious,” Van Dijk explained. “Whether that is the cause? No idea. I can’t imagine anyone having an idea. It was very strange.” He said. “It is certainly a huge blow, but the guys who are there now have to show it, and they will. I have confidence in that.” He added.

The virus has also impacted Sven Botman, Matthijs de Ligt, Joey Veerman, Cody Gakpo, and Bart Verbrugge, who were all sent home with the virus.
