Newcastle United have been given the green light to involve Summer signing Sandro Tonali against Crystal Palace this weekend.

According to Chronicle Live the FA are well aware of the midfielder’s situation in Italy, the 23-year-old will not be prevented by the governing body until facts become clear in his home country.

Like the FA, Premier League officials have also been keeping an eye on what is happening with Tonali and Aston Villa’s Nicolo Zaniolo after they were caught up in alleged illegal betting.

The Premier League will be guided by the FA on whether any potential bans from Italy will be transferred to UK shores.

Italy boss Luciano Spalletti, heading to England for the Euro 2024 qualifier at Wembley, had said,

“It was a difficult night, when you have to get results there is always anxiety, but this was a different night, with a lot of bitterness over what happened.

The whole squad is close to Tonali and Zaniolo, we’re very sorry for them. We will continue to be close to them even afterwards. For now, they have the spotlight on them.”

Tonali is expected to face the powers that be in Italy during the investigation but until all evidence is gathered and full facts are known, the FA are comfortable with him being selected in first-team games
