PSG defeated Marseille 3-0 yesterday, with Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi both shining.
Seeking revenge after being knocked out by Marseille in the French Cup, PSG needed a strong performance against second-placed Marseille. Marseille started the game on the front foot, as they controlled the whole game with the majority of possession but were unable to score a goal.
PSG built up well from the back, and Lionel Messi was able to release Kylian Mbappe, who opened the scoring in the 25th minute. Minutes later, it was Mbappe who returned the favor as he released Lionel Messi, who doubled PSG’s lead while also joining Cristiano Ronaldo in having scored 700 goals for club career.
In the second half, it was the same combination as Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi played a lovely exchange, and Mbappe scored the third goal for PSG while also breaking the record as he became the joint top scorer for PSG with 200 goals together with Edinson Cavani.
PSG looked comfortable in attack without Neymar, who is currently injured, and also saw France defender Kimpembe suffer a season-ending injury after he went down without contact while rushing to defend.
