Manchester United were defeated for the second consecutive game after losing 2-0 to Real Madrid.

Summer signing from Dortmund Jude Bellingham opened the scoring early in the sixth minute, past debuting Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana. United struggled to contain the Real Madrid midfield as Madrid bossed possession. Alejandro Garnacho’s shot was brilliantly pushed over the bar as Madrid were ahead at halftime.

In the second half, Marcus Rashford failed to capitalise on a chance to bring United level after being put through by Bruno Fernandes. Joselu scored the second goal for Real to seal the victory, although United had last-minute chances from Antony and Fernandes but did not capitalise.

Speaking after full time, Erik Ten Hag insisted his team needed to convert their chances. “I think we need more players who are capable of being in one-on-one situations, and we had those situations of one-on-ones.”It was Marcus Rashford; it was, I thought, Scott McTominay in one-on-one situations. Garnacho, a one-on-one situation In these situations, you have to score.” He said.
