Real Madrid players celebrate after scoring against Liverpool

Real Madrid launched a sensational comeback yesterday to thrash Liverpool in the Champions League at Anfield through Vinicius Junior’s double.

Liverpool took an early lead through Darwin Nunez’s cheeky back heel in the third minute. Minutes later, Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois tried to control the ball but found Mohammed Salah, who scored the second goal for Liverpool. Vinicius pulled one back for the visitors with a well-curling effort to beat Allison. Minutes later, Allison made a mistake in her attempt to clear the ball, which was found by Vinicius, who leveled the game at 2-2.

After the break, Eder Miltao scored the third from a free kick, and Liverpool seemed to have lost hope in the game. Karim Benzema played a lovely exchange with Rodrigo, and his shot deflected past Allison through Joe Gomez to give Real Madrid the fourth goal. Benzema later added his second of the game as he calmly dribbled past Allison and slotted into the empty net to give Real Madrid a commanding 5-2 win in the first leg.

Speaking after the game, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said there was a problem in the game: “I understand that, but I told the boys already, it was a massive knock.” We wanted to win the game, but we lost it 5-2. How can you think there is no problem? Nobody thinks that. “But a defeat is only a defeat if you don’t learn from it properly.” Said klopp.
