New Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has today revealed that he was not part of the Chelsea project before moving to Arsenal.
The Italian midfielder moved to Chelsea from Napoli in the summer of 2018 along with Maurizio Sarri as the coach. He has had his good and bad times at Chelsea during his three years at Stamford Bridge. He has helped Chelsea win the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel while also winning the Euros during that time. He also finished in third place in the 2021 Ballon Dor Awards.
The Italian midfielder joined Arsenal during the January transfer window after Chelsea were unwilling to offer him a new contract because his then deal would have expired in the summer, and he eventually left Chelsea on a free transfer.
Speaking DAZN Jorginho said, “I had spoken to Chelsea, and I knew I was no longer part of their plans.” I wanted to progress in my career, and the Arsenal project suits me. It’s a young team that plays good football and fits my characteristics. I considered every scenario and made the decision. “Sometimes you have to accept that you are no longer a part of a project and that things must come to an end,” he said.
Jorginho has started hid Chelsea career on a good note after scoring a thunder goal against Aston Villa at the weekend.
