Kenya 7s national team Shujaa were off to a flying start in the London 7s after registering a 24-19 win over Canada at the Twickenham Stadium. Prior to the London 7s, the Shujaa had competed in Toulouse 7s, finishing a disappointing 13th place.

This saw them drop to the playoff pool where teams are aiming at securing core nation status for the 2024 World Rugby Sevens Series which will consist of only 12 teams unlike before where 16 teams were involved.

Kabras RFC’s Kevin Wekesa was the hero of the match as he touched down thrice with Edmond Anya adding the extra one which made the difference between the two teams.

Kenya will then clash with Tonga and Uruguay in the subsequent fixtures. The top two sides after the round-robin competition will face off in Sunday’s playoff final for the 12th and final slot in the 2024 World Rugby Sevens Series.
