Former Arsenal star and England international Theo walcott has announced his retirement from playing professional football.

The 34-year-old was released by Southampton at the end of last season following the expiry of his contract with the Saints.

Walcott had been linked with Bournemouth and Reading but he has decided to hang up his boots after 17years of playing professional football.

During his playing career, Walcott has managed to feature 563 times for the clubs he has played for, that is Southampton, Arsenal,Everton and England national team.

Walcott joined Arsenal in 2006 from Southampton when he was only 17 years old and he went on to score 100 goals for the Gunners and also winning three FA cups and two community shields
