Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 in the Carabao Cup third round played at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Cody Gakpo doubled Liverpool’s advantage nine minutes after the restart with a composed strike inside the box. Tottenham responded through Conor Gallagher in the 69th minute, who headed home from a corner to give Spurs hope.
Omar Marmoush’s brilliant effort was pushed away by Giorgi Mamardashvili after a slight deflection. However, Dominik Szoboszlai sealed the victory in stoppage time with a spectacular long-range strike after missing a sitter early on.
Speaking after the defeat, Tottenham Hotspurs manager De Zerbi insisted his team needs to do better: “We have to shoot more times, we have to shoot better, we have to finish better in the clear situations, but we are sorry for the result, disappointed, and frustrated for the result.” I think it’s unfair, but we have to accept it and to be stronger than this unlucky moment.” He said.
