Napoli players celebrate scoring against Napoli

Seria A League leaders Napoli took a commanding first leg win away at Frankfurt with a comfortable 2-0 win in the Champions League in Germany.

After a sustained spell of pressure from the visitors, the Nigerian forward victor Osimhen opened the scoring in the 40th minute for his 10th goal in his past eight appearances in all competitions.Osimhen narrowly missed the post and also saw another goal ruled out due to him being in an offside position.His teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s penalty was saved by Frankfurt captain Kevin Trapp despite the thunderous boos of the home crowd.


In the second half, Kvaratskhelia backheeled the ball into the path of Giovanni Di Lorenzo, the captain of Napoli, who finished a magnificent team play with a sweeping, curled shot inside the far post in the 65th minute.Frankfurt suffered a major blow when their star forward Kolo Muani suffered a straight red card for his nasty challenge on Napoli midfielder Anguissa.


Napoli will next face off against Empoli as they try to build a commanding lead at the top of the table, which is already a 15-point lead.
