Vihiga Queens head coach Boniface Nyamuh believes that the defending champions still have a chance to defend their Kenyan Women Premier League (KWPL) title.

His comments comes after Saturday’s 1-0 win over Madira Soccer Assassins at Mumboha Grounds, the lone goal was scored by Emily Moranga in the 25th minute of the match.

“A win against Madira was very vital, considering our aim to win all the remaining matches this season. Mathematically we believe we have a chance to defend our title and this will happen if we win all our remaining matches including the two in hand.

Police are ahead of us with a difference of nine points but we are not scared at all, if they drop points in their remaining matches and we win, we can clinch the title.”

After the win Vihiga queens have remained in the second position on the log with 37 points, nine behind the leaders Kenya Police Bullets as Ulinzi Starlets, Kibera Soccer Ladies and Wadadia wrap up top five with 32, 27 and 20 points respectively.

on his side Madira coach Francis Muhambe blamed the heavy rains in the match day for their loss, but remains firm they will survive relegation.

“Most of our player are Under-18 and they have really tried not to concede many goals playing with experienced players in the Vihiga Queens squad.

You can train players but you can’t train experience because it comes with age and the number of matches one has played.”
