Gaspo Women’s plans to make amend for their 2022-23 Kenya Women’s Premier League disappointments are at an apex point.

The Gatundu-based club failed to clinch 2022-23 after faltering at the tail end relinquishing the title to Vihiga Queens.

The club recently became the only team in the country to play in a high-altitude environment during their camp on Mt Kenya.

The Club’s Chairperson Edward Githua, has revealed that the intense 2023-24 pre-season preparations were a result of the team’s weak mentality when it really counts.

“Mental strength is what we are trying to work on. It really affected the team towards the end of last season,” Githua said.

“It was an adventurous assignment for the players.  The hardships experienced while climbing the mountain will only make the players better, “Githua added.

The team is now scheduled to play Kawempe Muslim from Uganda on July 22, 2023, and Simba Queens from Tanzania on August 8, 2023.

“We want to have good preparations for the new season. Kawempe will be a real test for us. We then head to Tanzania to play Simba Queens in early August,” Githua pointed out.
