Participating in the World Athletics Championships or the Olympics is what each and every athlete wishes for in their careers. However, earning this chance does not come on a silver plate. You have to earn it.
The countdown to the World Athletics Championships that will take place in Budapest Hungary from August 19, 2023, to August 27, 2023, is underway.
Athletics all over the world are in the race against time to meet the qualification standards for the Championships.
In Kenya, the World Championships trials courtesy of Athletics Kenya will take place on July 7 and 8, 2023 at Nyayo Stadium.
For any athlete to take part in the trials, they have to meet some qualifications. They include the following;
- Compliance with ADAK/AIU anti-doping testing requirement
- Budapest 2023 World Athletics Championships entry standards
- World ranking quota
- National Championships 2023 top performers
Here is the World Championships qualification window;
For the marathon and 35 km race walk, the qualifying period opened on December 1, 2021, and will close on May 30, 2023. For the 10,000m, 20km race walk and combined events, the window runs from January 31, 2022, to July 30, 2023.
For every other event, the qualification period is July 31, 2022, to July 30, 2023.
