Chelsea suffered their first defeat of the season after losing 3-1 to West Ham.

West Ham took the early lead when Nayef Aguerd headed in from a corner kick. Chelsea improved their game and got the equaliser through Carney Chukwuemeka, who scored his first goal for Chelsea. Enzo Fernandez wasted his chance as his penalty was saved before the halftime break.

Michael Antonio gave West Ham the lead early in the second half with a powerful strike past Robert Sanchez. Chelsea had an advantage when Aguerd was sent off after a foul on Nicholas Jackson but could not capitalise.

Moises Caicedo made his Chelsea debut, but he conceded a penalty late in the game, which Paqueta calmly slotted to give West Ham the three points.
