Who will join Gor Mahia to represent Kenya on the international stage? Is it Tusker or Kakamega Homeboyz? This remains a mystery that will unfold on Saturday at Kasarani Stadium.
This is undoubtedly the largest spectacle in the country as the league curtains were closed last weekend. The Mozzart Bet Cup finals. Kakamega Homeboyz will lock horns with the ‘Mighty’ Tusker for a chance to grab a ticket for the CAF Confederation Cup tournament.
Tusker FC narrowly missed the FKF-PL title to Gor Mahia by an agonizing single point. They however have a chance to redeem themselves against Kakamega Homeboyz- which in turn will not be an easy feat.
The Brewers gaffer- Robert Matano has implored his team to bury last weekend’s misery and focus on the final.
“We are disappointed that we didn’t reclaim the KPL title as we had hoped but we don’t have any more time left to lament over the unfortunate turn of events,” Matano said.
“We are going back to training with our eyes firmly fixed on securing the remaining slot to the continental stage. I know Homeboyz are a good side and beating them will make the victory all the more pleasurable,” Matano said.
On the other hand, Homeboyz is a side brimming with confidence after their impressive winning streak towards the end-of-season.
The Western-based club is optimistic about clinching the ticket to ensure they participate in the upcoming international matches.
Patrick Odhiambo at the helm, the side boasts it’s their trophy to lose.
“We want to be in the best mood possible as we head to the big final against Tusker. We are confident of flying the country’s flag in the CAF Confederation Cup.”
“We know how demanding it is to shine on the continental stage but we believe in our abilities to succeed. We wouldn’t have romped to the finals if we didn’t have what it takes to succeed at such levels,” Odhiambo stated.
