The Kenyan international Timothy Ouma is reportedly close to being unveiled by Slavia Prague and it has been revealed why he chose the Czech side over interested clubs from England and France.
Harambee Stars midfielder Timothy Ouma reportedly agreed to sign for Czech side Slavia Prague because he was given assurances over game time and career development.
Ouma is close to being unveiled by Slavia Prague after sealing a 40 million Kronor (Ksh473 million) transfer from Swedish club IF Elfsborg but there was interest from a host of teams in England and France.
English Championship sides Luton Town and Sheffield United were the first in the race for the player with French side St-Etienne also showing interest but Slavia Prague won the player’s signature.
According to Czech outlet Infotbal, Slavia Prague presented a clear vision to the midfielder, showing him his personal development and professional future and that is what won him over after the two clubs had agreed on the transfer fee.

Ouma was keen to continue playing regularly and might have not received assurances from the other teams regarding his game time, leading to his decision to move to the Czech Republic.
Slavia Prague have been tracking Ouma’s progress since last season and made their interest known in the off-season transfer window but were put off by the 5 million Euros (Ksh667 million) asking price from Elfsborg at the time.
They waited until the mid-season transfer window and returned for their man, managing to reach a deal, which includes a resale clause of over 20 percent for Elfsborg, with his medical scheduled to take place today.
The former Nairobi City Stars midfielder joined Elfsborg in 2022 and became a key player for the club and had made 13 Europa League appearances this season, scoring two goals and providing an assist, before the transfer to Prague.
