Defending world 800-meter champion Emmanuel Korir is set to return to track after battling injury hitches.

The 28-year-old athlete has had a season to forget as he has been way far from his very best. The question is, will he be ready to compete at the highest level in the upcoming World Championships?

He will compete in the last Diamond League meeting of the season that is set to be held in Monaco. It is slated for July 21, 2023.

He opened his season in the Rabat Diamond League on May 28 where he clocked a time of 1:48.96- he finished eighth.

He later ran Paris where he clocked his season’s best so far (1:41.71). His last race was in Stockholm where he recorded an eighth-place finish in a time of 1:48.96.

“I have not had a good season so far, but I hope to find a form with the upcoming race. If all goes well with the event in Monaco, then I can hit good form and defend my world title in Budapest in August,” he noted.
