Kenyan Premier League chiefs met Football Kenya Federation (FKF) at Nairobi’s Serena Hotel today to discuss creating an independent body to run the top-flight from next season. The move aims to strengthen governance, professionalise management, and boost commercial appeal.
Eleven club chairmen attended: Azu Ogola (KCB), SC Ambrose Rachier (Gor Mahia), Boniface Ambani (AFC Leopards), Robert Maoga (Kariobangi Sharks), Jared Nivaton (Shabana FC), Lt Col Vincent Ombaba (Ulinzi Stars), Nyale Munga, EBS (Kenya Police FC), Geoffrey Misango (Bidco United), Osman Abdi (Nairobi United), and Charles Gacheru (Tusker FC). Mathare United, Sofapaka, Mara Sugar and APS Bomet were represented by their CEOs. Bandari, Posta Rangers, Murang’a Seal and Kakamega Homeboyz were absent.
Participants described the talks as constructive and agreed to hold further meetings to finalise governance, funding and operational details ahead of a possible rollout next season.
