Arsenal produced an impressive performance to beat Manchester City 3–0 in the 2026 Community Shield.
Riccardo Calafiori gave Arsenal a dream start, scoring after just 23 seconds. Kai Havertz doubled the advantage in the 28th minute before captain Martin Ødegaard added the third shortly after half-time. Manchester City had chances of their own, with Phil Foden denied by David Raya, while Erling Haaland lifted a good opportunity over the bar. Joško Gvardiol also headed over from a dangerous position.
Speaking after his debut as Manchester City coach, Enzo Maresca insists it’s just the start. “There are more trophies to go for, and that’s the aim.” In general I’m always concerned, even when we win games, so imagine how it was that we didn’t win the game. It’s just the beginning; we have many things that we need to do better. ” he said.
