The Sacramento Kings defeated the defending champion Golden State Warriors 126–123 in Game 1 of the 2023 playoffs.

De’Aaron Fox didn’t make the playoffs until his sixth NBA season. The star of the Sacramento Kings made sure that his postseason debut was one to remember. In Game 1 of their best-of-seven series, he scored 38 points to help the Sacramento Kings defeat the Golden State Warriors with a tense 126–123 victory. Malik Monk added another 32 points in the win.

On the Warriors’ side, Stephen Curry scored 30 points but missed the game-tying shot at the end, as they were able to come up with the win. Klay Thompson added 21 points, but they were not enough to give them the win.

Game 2 will be held on Tuesday in the same arena as the first round.
