Chelsea defeated Tottenham Hotspurs 2-0 in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge.
Trevor Challobah took the lead after a beautiful header from a Conor Gallaghet free kick early in the game. Jackson had an early chance to score, but Spurs defender Van de Ven cleared the ball off the line. Johnson had the best chance for spurs in the first half, but Petrovic saved it comfortably.
In the second half, Spurs improved but found it difficult to break Chelsea’s defence. Cole Palmer saw his free kick hit the cross bar, but it was Nicolas Jackson who scored the rebound header to give Chelsea a 2-0 lead. Spurs had late chances, but none of them could trouble Petrovic in goal.
Speaking after the loss, Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou said they did not play well. “We were so far off it, and that’s on me today.” “Come on, mate, we didn’t play well. What do you want, for me to write you a dossier on where it went wrong? We were poor today.” He said.
