Chelsea defeated Shamrock 5-1 in the UEFA Conference League played yesterday at Stamford Bridge and secured the top spot in the league phase.
The Blues took the lead when Marc Guiu netted into an empty net after a mix-up between Pohl and Barns in the defence. Shamrock equalised when Markus’s poom effort took a heavy deflection. Chelsea restored the lead again through Guiu after a poor back pass by Daniel Cleary. Dewsbury Hall added the third with a composed finish into the corner of the net. Guiu then completed his hat trick when he met Madueke’s cross in the 43rd minute.
In the second half, Marc Cucurella scored the fifth goal for the home side again as he made it two goals in two games. Substitute Joao Felix had a couple of chances but could not finish them off.
Enzo Maresca’s side has now finished top of the standings throughout the league phase. Chelsea will face off against Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.
