Kenya’s rising star Kinoti Kiara, 15, struck gold in men’s sabre at the African Cadet and Junior Fencing Championships in Dakar, Senegal. The Tsavora Fencing Academy prodigy stayed composed against top rivals, edging out Egypt’s Hamza Abuhalwa for silver, with Morocco’s Mohamed El Bounjaimi and Togo’s Ilan Tchaa Arou taking bronze.
This victory builds on Kiara’s December 2025 bronze at the African Youth Games in Angola, signaling Kenya’s fencing surge.
Kenya Fencing Federation president Fred Chege hailed the win: “A proud milestone that proves our athletes’ dedication and Kenya’s readiness to dominate African fencing.”
Kiara’s success spotlights the sport’s growth back home.
