Arsenal defeated Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 in the North London derby on Sunday evening.
Mikel Arteta went into the game needing to win to keep up the title race. Leandro missed a big chance from close range as Arsenal dominated the early stages. Dragusin also blocked Gyokores’s effort as the pressure mounted. Eberechi Eze then opened up the scoring after Saka found the Englishman who broke the deadlock. Tottenham then responded just 24 seconds later after Kolo Muani dispossessed Declan Rice before firing past Raya.
In the second half, Xavi Simons put up a thumping effort which Raya pushed away. Gyokeres then gave Arsenal the lead after his emphatic finish. Eze then added his second of the game after a clever finish. Kolo Muani thought he had scored, but his goal was disallowed for a push on Gabriel. Gyokeres then added his second of the game after holding off Grey to cap a wonderful evening for Arteta’s side.
Speaking after the game, Victor Gyokeres admitted his team can do better. “We can do even better, I’m sure. I was involved a lot. When you get to know the players around you better, it makes a difference. I always try to come in with my attributes and help the team,” he said.
