Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has warned his players to avoid red cards or get punished.

Red cards and indiscipline have caused the world champions serious points throughout the season. Chelsea have now received 9 red cards in the Premier League and 1 in the Champions League. Robert Sanchez, Trevor Chalobah, Liam Delap, Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella, Joao Pedro, Malo Gusto and Pedro Neto have all been sent off this season. Former head coach Enzo Maresca was also sent off in their stoppage-time win over Liverpool last year. Last weekend Pedro Neto was sent off in quick succession in their loss to Arsenal as Fofana was also sent off against Burnley.

Speaking on the discipline issues, Liam Rosenior has warned his side to avoid the red cards or not be selected. “You pick players who are showing that improvement. I can’t afford to go for a season after every two or three games with a red card. It’s just not possible. I need to see improvement in that. I need to adjust my team selection based on who is showing those capabilities.” He said.

Chelsea prepare to take on Aston Villa as they fight for a Champions League spot next season.
