Arsenal defeated Manchester City 4-1 on post-match penalties to win the Community Shield.
Kai Havertz had two glorious chances in the first half to give Arsenal the lead, but Ortega stood firm in the city goal to deny Germany.
In the second half, Substitute Cole Palmer curled in a beautiful goal to give City the lead after De Bruyne’s assist. City seemed to be headed for the win until the final minutes of extra time, when super substitute Leandro Trossard’s effort deflected off Akanji and found Ortega on the wrong side to give Arsenal the equaliser.
The game had to be decided by post-match penalties to decide the win. Arsenal scored all their penalty kicks through Martin Odegaard, Leandro Trossard, Bukayo Saka, and Fabio Veirra.
Manchester City missed two of their penalty kicks, with De Bruyne missing his kick, while Bernado Silva scored the only spot kick for the Guardiola side as Rodri saw his kick saved by Ramsdale.
Manchester City have now lost three consecutive community shields.
