By drawing 3-3 with substandard Southampton on Friday at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal lost ground in the fight for the Premier League title.

Aaron Ramsdale made a terrible mistake that allowed Carlos Alcaraz to score the first goal inside of 30 seconds, and former Arsenal player Theo Walcott added a second goal shortly after. A Duje Caleta-Car header midway through the second half restored Southampton’s two-goal lead after Gabriel Martinelli had cut the difference to one. Martin Odegaard and Saka’s late goals tied the game for Arsenal just minutes before full time. Substitute Leandro Trossard hit the crossbar in stoppage time as the hosts went in pursuit of what would have been a thrilling winner.

Arsenal still lead the table with 75 points from 32 games played, although Manchester City are closing in on second place with 70 points from 30 games played.
