A total of 30 players have been nominated for the 2023 Ballon d’Or.
But only one will get the prestigious award and be recognised as the world’s finest player for the year. Lionel Messi is the favourite to win the award and extend his record of seven Ballon dOr, especially after winning the World Cup.
Erling Haaland is also another favourite after leading Manchester City to a historic treble while also winning other individual awards.
A couple big names have, however, been left out, including Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford, who enjoyed a successful season under Erik Ten Hag last season. Cristiano Ronaldo has also not been nominated for the award for the first time since the 2007–2008 season.
The current holder of the Ballon d’Or is Karim Benzema, but he is unlikely to win the trophy again.
