Chelsea advanced to the next round of the EFL Carabao Cup after a 4-3 win over Wolves yesterday.

Enzo Maresca’s side advanced despite a subpar second-half performance. Andrey Santos opened the scoring for Chelsea after Gittens set him up. Minutes later, Tyrique George doubled the visitors’ lead, and Gittens again turned out to be the provider. Wolves offered little in the first half and were again caught up playing from the back, and it was Santos who intercepted, and Estevao picked up the loose ball and chipped it over incoming Jose Sa to add the third goal.

In the second half, Wolves reduced the deficit through Arokodare to mount minimal chances of a comeback. Wolves then scored the second goal in the 73rd minute to put more pressure on the Chelsea side, who had to bring in their first team players. Jaime Gittens then scored with an outer volley to kill off any chances of a comeback in the 89th minute. Wolves scored just two minutes later to add more pressure, but Chelsea managed to hold on to a 4-3 win and advance.
