Chelsea defeated Spanish giants Barcelona 3-0 in the Champions League game played at Stamford Bridge.

Enzo Maresca’s side started the game on the front foot as they threatened with Enzo Fernandez’s early effort. Barcelona were awarded a gift as Lamine Yamal pounced on a loose ball and set up Ferran Torres, who missed a sitter from close range. Enzo Fernandez thought he had opened the scoring, but Wesley Fofana appeared to have handled the ball in the build-up. Chelsea eventually got the lead through an own goal by Jules Kounde after a Cucurella pass. Reece James saw his long-range effort just sail high above the bar as the crowd made a big noise. Barcelona were reduced to 10 men when Ronald Araujo brought down Marc Cucurella just before halftime.

In the second half, Barcelona brought in Marcus Rashford as Chelsea brought in Santos to replace Gusto. Estevao then added the second for the home side after lovely dribbling to kill any hopes of a comeback. Santos scored a minute later, but the goal was disallowed due to offside. Barcelona offered little in attack as Chelsea bossed every department of the game. Liam Delao then opened his Chelsea account after being set up by Enzo Fernandez. Rashford hit one from outside the box, but it sailed wide as Chelsea won the game.

Speaking after the win, Estevao was happy with his performance: “It’s the best moment in my career… My family is here; I’m so, so happy. I don’t really have any words to sum up how I am feeling. It was all very quick for me. I found some space and wiggled my way through.” He said.
