Slipping up in the heated FKF-PL title race after their 2-1 defeat to Wazito FC, Tusker FC’s, head coach Robert Matano believes that the title race is not over.

The loss meant that their rivals Gor Mahia had a two-point cushion as only two games are left to be played.

Reminiscing the 2020 /2021 title race between Tusker and KCB, where Tusker FC eventually won during the last match, Matano believes it can still happen again this season.

Tusker will hope that Gor Mahia falters during their last two matches and win all the matches to successfully defend their title.

The brewers will face Posta Rangers and the relegated Vihiga Bullets in their final two games while Gor has assignments against Kakamega Homeboyz and Nairobi City Stars.

“It’s still too early for any team to celebrate. We were at the top of the table a couple of days ago and we have since been dislodged to the second spot, just as it happened in 2020, the season might be decided on the final day of the competition. Only two points separate us from leader Gor Mahia and another two points separate us from third-placed Nzoia Sugar. At this rate, anything is bound to happen.” He told the Star.

“We have to rise, shake off the dust, and move on to our next match. All the players know how important it is for us now to win all our remaining matches and I believe they’ll throw everything into the fixtures to get us all the points we need to win the league.” He added.
