Manchester City survived a late comeback against Fulham in the Premier League.
Erling Haaland came close to scoring in the early stages after hitting the post. He then opened the scoring minutes later as he became the fastest player to hit 100 goals in 111 games. Smith Rowe forced Donnarumma into an excellent save to keep the lead. Reijnders then added the second goal after an excellent chip over rushing Leno. Phil Foden then added the third goal for the visitors, who looked unstoppable on the night. Smith Rowe then pulled one back for the home side just before halftime.
After the restart, Manchester City added the fourth goal through Phil Foden, who has now scored four goals in 2 games. Jeremy Doku then added the fifth goal for City after his shot took a heavy deflection past Leno. Alex Iwobi pulled one back to make it 5-2. Samuel Chukwueze then scored for Fulham, beating Donnarumma in a low shot to make it 5-3. Minutes later, Chukwueze then added the fourth goal after City failed to clear the ball from a corner kick. Pep Guardiola’s side managed to hold on to the win and reduce the gap to Arsenal to just 5 points.
Speaking after the record, Haaland insisted he is very proud. “Of course, it means a lot. First of all, to score 100 goals in the Premier League for City is a thing, of course, I wanted to do when I came here. But to do it this quickly, I didn’t expect. Now it’s happened, I’m super proud. It’s a huge thing.” He said.
