Manchester City returned to winning ways after beating Brentford 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
Fresh from dropping points against Chelsea, City needed to return to winning ways to keep up in the title race. The home side had chances through Bernardo Silva, who missed his chance, and Ben Mee’s clearance off the line to deny Oscar Bobb his first league start.
In the second half, Erling Haaland scored his 22nd goal of the season in the second half of the game to give the home side the lead. Kevin De Bruyne was an unused substitute in the win in which Manchester City climped up to second in what is a fierce title race down the season.
After the game, Pep Guardiola said that Brentford are such a difficult side to play against. “Brentford are such a difficult team to play against. Last season, they took six points from us. They are incredibly organised. Toney is a master at keeping the ball; he’s an incredible player. After that, they are really good in all details, throww-ins free kicks, and so on.” He said.
