President William Ruto has awarded the world record holder for women Faith Kipyegon five million shillings.

Last week, Faith Kipyegon was the star of the show after breaking both the 5000 and 1500 meters for women in Paris. Today she was hosted by President William Ruto along with her family and other athletes who competed in the race.

President William Ruto promised to award her for her tremendous effort. “She has won and broken two world records in 1500 meters in Florence, Italy, and 5000 meters in Paris, France. The government of Kenya is going to award her a total of Sh5 million for one record, and we are going to give her a house worth Sh6 million for the other record,” he said.

During the ceremony, Faith Kipyegon said she is still surprised. “I was not expecting that, and I am still surprised,” she said.
