Harambee Stars defeated Zambia 1-0 to finish top of the group at the CHAN.
The win for the national team has seen them finish on top with 10 points, having won 3 games and drawing one game. McCarthy made several changes to the starting line-up, citing tired legs. Austine Odhiambo’s free kick sailed over the bar early on for the home side. Kibwage made a clearance to deny Zambia from scoring through a corner kick. Kenya had several opportunities but were wasteful in goal as they went to half time at 0-0.
In the second half, Chris Onyango’s tame effort was easily saved to the fans’ frustrations. The breakthrough came in the 75th minute when Ogham scored the only goal after a clever build-up from the midfield. Nabwire then, minutes later, came close to doubling as his effort hit the crossbar.
In another game, Morocco finished second just behind the Harambee Stars despite demolishing Dr Congo 4-1.
