Veteran Premier League striker Jamie Vardy has slammed Leicester City’s campaign that has seen the Foxes relegated to England’s second tier.

The Leicester talisman had no say as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s solitary goal on Sunday sealed the Foxes’ fate while taking the Liverpool closer to the title.

Vardy has experienced both highs and lows with Leicester, from winning the Premier League in 2016 to the slump of relegation in 2023.

The Leicester man has slammed Foxes’ campaign overseen by Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy as a total embarrassment.

“No words I have can ever express my feelings of anger and sadness with the way this season has gone. There are no excuses,” Vardy wrote on social media.

“Having been at this club for so long, we’ve experienced so many highs and successes, and this season has been nothing but miserable and, for me personally, a total embarrassment. It hurts, and I know you’re feeling it too.”

“To the fans, I’m sorry. Sorry we haven’t performed,” he added.

While Leicester have nothing left to play for but pride, the Foxes have five matches to increase their points tally and potentially their ranking on the log.

They currently place 19th with 18 points, behind Ipswich in 18th with 21 points.

According to reports, the former Premier League Golden Boot winner has been linked with a move away from Leicester.

As for manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, the former Manchester United striker’s future hangs in the balance following Leicester City’s relegation.

The Dutchman, who is contracted to the Foxes till 2027, joined midway through the season in November 2024.

It has, however, not gone according to plan for the former Premier League striker, as Leicester’s relegation now puts a damper on his future.
