Manchester City’s new signing Jeremy Doku was the star of the evening, as he scored and assisted four goals.

The Belgium winger opened the scoring with a well-curled effort in the top corner in the opening minute. He then assisted in the second, whereby Bernado Silva scored his first goal of the game. Minutes later, his shot deflected off Manuel Akanji to score the city’s third goal.

In the second half, he then teed up Phil Foden, who scored City’s fourth goal of the evening. Bournemouth scored a consolation goal through Luis Sinisterra to make it 4-1. Bernado Silva and Nathan Ake added other goals to finish off a comfortable night for City.

Pep Guardiola, speaking after full time, said Doku reminded him of Messi. “He made a good shot from a short corner, and then after the first goal, the action for the second looks like Messi. I remembered, in that moment, that Messi did that many times. Maybe that’s too much of a compliment for him! But he deserves it.” He said.
